Healthcare Philanthropy Alliance (HPA) is a collaboration of bespoke advisors and consultants with extensive expertise and experience in healthcare philanthropy and fundraising. The Alliance brings together three of Australia’s leading healthcare philanthropy fundraising professionals who bring long term experience and successful track records crafted in significant healthcare organisation.

Operating as a group of specialists in philanthropic engagement and fundraising practice, with shared and individual expertise, Healthcare Philanthropy Alliance provides a unique service to healthcare, research, and community health organisations in Australian and New Zealand. The Alliance members offer high level organisational capability with long term experience in governance, management, and organisational development.

Healthcare Philanthropy Alliance has affiliations with organisations providing healthcare philanthropy training as well as fundraising program services and campaign management.

Nigel specialises in organisational and leadership development coupled with an extensive knowledge of philanthropic engagement and fundraising practice. He has four decades of experience in executive and governance leadership roles, specifically in healthcare philanthropy.

Leigh’s area of specialty is philanthropy and fundraising strategy. She has over 20 years’ experience in leading teams in national and international for-purpose organisations, successfully guiding them through times of restructure and accelerated growth.

Healthcare Philanthropy Alliance offers a range of tailored services and programs to support organisations engaged in healthcare philanthropy.

Working across four (4) primary areas of engagement, HPA members offer unique expertise and insight to assist leaders in healthcare philanthropy. HPA has a focus on

HPA members will augment fundraising programs by focusing on the factors that enable optimal philanthropic engagement and fundraising outcomes. Through the provision of specialist counsel and insights, HPA members will work with clients on organisational projects such as planning, culture and constituency engagement, as well as delivering and supporting applied training programs in healthcare philanthropy.

Working in harmony with internal fundraising teams as well as external consultants, HPA members provide a unique value add to healthcare philanthropy across a range of environments.

Healthcare Philanthropy Organisational Development

Undertaking an independent review and assessment of philanthropic engagement and fundraising strategy with provision of a report and implementation guidance framework

Undertaking an independent review and assessment of philanthropic engagement and fundraising program structure and program formation with provision of a report and implementation guidance framework

Working with organisational leadership (governance and management) to develop a strategic plan with short term implementation counsel.

Working with organisational management to develop a fundraising operational plan including reporting and measurement frameworks with short term implementation counsel.

Working with organisational leadership (governance and management) to review and assess organisational capacity and propensity for development of philanthropic culture, reporting on findings, and supporting initial implementation work.

Advisory

Working with organisational leadership to provide informed and continuing professional counsel and advice to support healthcare philanthropy program strategy and execution, staff development, institutional and constituency engagement.

Working with organisational leadership to review and assess fundraising team structure and function as well as fundraising program and portfolio formation. Reporting on findings and providing an implementation framework and guidance.

Creation and delivery of training workshops designed around organisational needs and priorities in philanthropic engagement and fundraising practice within a healthcare environment. The workshop audience may include organisational leadership at governance and executive level, senior management, operational staff, and volunteers. Workshops would typically be conducted over a full or half day.

Training

Advancement Resources conduct a range of training programs in healthcare philanthropy. The Advancement Resources training programs are directed to a range of key audiences across healthcare institutions and offer the highest quality of expertise, insights, and applicable content.

The delivery of the Advancement Resources training programs may be in an in-person or virtual format and arrangements for delivery of these programs would be negotiated directly with Advancement Resources.

Healthcare Philanthropy Alliance offers preparatory and implementation support around the conduct of Advancement Resources training programs. These supports play an important role in ensuring that the value received from the Advancement Resources training is optimised. This is addressed by creating organisational readiness prior to the conduct of training as well as a commitment to implementation of concepts and methodologies after training has been conducted.

Working with organisational leadership to review and assess fundraising team and/or broader organisational needs and readiness prior to undertaking Advancement Resources training programs. This will include recommendations and guidance on the nature of training that may be undertaken and any work that may be undertaken prior to the commencement of training. It will also consider post training strategies.

Working with organisational leadership to provide informed and continuing professional counsel and advice to support the implementation of learnings from Advancement Resources training programs. The nature and length of this counsel would be negotiated around organisational needs and priorities, however, would generally be a six to twelve-month body of work.

Healthcare Philanthropy Alliance will create and deliver bespoke training programs in healthcare philanthropy that address specific needs beyond the scope of Advancement Resources training offerings. The bespoke training will be crafted around and applied to individual organisational needs and opportunities, with content and delivery negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

Engagement

Working with fundraising leadership to provide informed and continuing professional counsel and advice to support the engagement of organisational leadership in healthcare philanthropy. This may include working with Institutional and Foundation governance leadership as well as executive leadership at Institutional level. It is intended to support   fundraising leadership in engaging organisational leadership in philanthropic engagement and fundraising program strategy and execution as well as providing other related support as agreed.

Working with fundraising leadership to provide informed and continuing professional counsel and advice to support the engagement of clinical and research leadership in healthcare philanthropy. This will include working with clinical and research leadership as well as other key people across care teams, research, and other relevant stakeholders. It is intended to support fundraising leadership in engaging clinical (and other) leadership in philanthropic engagement and fundraising program strategy and execution as well as providing other related support as agreed.

Working with organisational leadership to provide informed and continuing professional counsel and advice in developing, planning, and implementing a Patient Philanthropy program. This work is based on international best practice and contemporary experience in Australia and New Zealand and is intended to support fundraising leadership and teams in building authentic and sustainable philanthropic relationships with the primary support constituency within healthcare. The work will consider themes including gratitude, philanthropic ambition, and relationship management approaches and processes.
